This song has many nuances written by the composer and in order to record this it took tremendous concentration. It is said that Rokkyu were fishermen in a region of Northern Kyushu in Japan and it is also said that they were descendants of a Warrior named Rokkyu. Over the timespan of 700 years they cultivated their own lifestyle. This region has many temples (Jodoshinshu). People and also Rokkuys attend a Jodoshinshu festival (Hoonko), bells are ringingas if to support human life…

「六騎」は平家の落人で、九州北部の海辺に住み着き、その子孫も「六騎」と呼ばれ、漁師のようなことをしていた、と聞きました。白秋がそのことを書いたということは、平家没落から約７００年経っても「六騎」と呼ばれる人々が存在していたことになります。この歌からは、「六騎」の人々は、地元の人々とは違う生き方をしていたように受け取れます。まだまだ封建的な時代に、自由な恋愛を楽しんでいるような感じです。「六騎」の人々は、このような強い「情念」があったからこそ、長い年月、子孫を残し、生き延びてきたのだと思います。　　　この地域は浄土真宗のお寺が多く、宗祖である親鸞聖人の御正忌の報恩講は非常に盛大であったそうです。お寺の鐘が鳴り響き、それは壮大だったとのことです。　　　お寺の鐘は、108あるとされる「煩悩」と結びつけることをよく聞きます。人間は皆、「煩悩」を抱える存在であります。しかし「煩悩」なくしては「生きる」ことはないのです。お寺の鐘を聞くと、私たちは「煩悩」があることを思い出し、自分の本当の姿に気づき、反省することができ、そして更に力強く生きてゆくことができると思います。　　　　この歌では「六騎」の人々の生命力の強さが、「煩悩」と切り離して生きていけない人間の切なさと重なる気がします。そして、お寺の鐘は「生きよ！」と私たちのために響くのです。　　この曲は私にとって、「生きる」ことの応援歌なのです。

When I studied at Vienna city Conservatory(now “University of the city of Vienna,MUK”)with Professor Grossmann, he himself offered me some of his composed works to perform. This one here is one of those compositions. He said it was the first time ever that he had offered someone his composition to perform and this is a tremendous honour for me. In this piece it is about springtime in Vienna, when tender violin sounds can be heard coming from Wienerwald (Vienna forest), there is mention of famous sights and  also a little bit of Viennese melancholy character can be felt.

ウィーン市立音楽院(現在のPrivatuniversität der Stadt Wien,MUK)でL.グロースマン先生のもとでオペレッタを勉強していた頃、先生はこの曲を演奏するように、と、ご自身で作曲されたいくつかの楽譜を私にお渡しになりました。この曲はそのひとつです。先生は、ご自分から歌って欲しいと思われて楽譜を渡すのはこれが初めてだ、とおっしゃっていました。大変名誉なことと、光栄に思います。　この曲では、春に、ウィーンの森から優しいヴァイオリンの音が聞こえてきて、花や、その他の素敵なことを語る…ということが繰り返され、ウィーンのいくつかの名所を織り込みながら、ウィーン人のメランコリックな気質も、ちらと漂わせます。
