Today I wanted to send a letter to Japan from a post office in Vienna. Surprisingly the clerk told me they could not accept it. She did not know the specific reason but assumed it may be due to Covid or the crisis in Ukraine. I also heard that the resumption of this service was unknown as of now. 今日、ウイーンの郵便局に日本への手紙を出しに行きました。ところが、局員さんが、今は日本への郵便物は受け付けられないと言うのです。理由ははっきり分からないが、多分、コロナかウクライナ問題のせいであろう、ということでした。いつ郵送できるようになるかは未定だそうです。また日本がとても遠くなりました。良いお天気と、美しく咲いた花々に慰められるような気がします。
